About the integrative approach
What is integrative psychotherapy?
Integrative psychotherapy is an approach based on the idea that no single therapeutic school is enough for every patient and every problem. Instead, the integrative therapist draws from many traditions (CBT, psychodynamic, humanistic, gestalt, systemic), choosing techniques individually for your needs, personality and life circumstances.
Integrative therapists have broad training across different therapeutic approaches. Drawing methods and techniques from various schools makes it possible to strive for the best treatment outcomes. Why choose integrative therapy? Is it suitable for work with children and adolescents? Is this approach to treatment effective? We will do our best to point you in the right direction!
Therapy tailored to you
Integrative therapy combines different schools, which means the therapeutic process is tailored to each patient's individual needs. This form of therapy can be effective in treating many psychological difficulties; it may improve quality of life and interpersonal relationships.
The power of integration
Why choose the integrative approach?
Method flexibility
An integrative psychotherapist is not limited to one school. If humanistic psychotherapy or cognitive-behavioural elements are not bringing results, they can turn to psychodynamic, gestalt or systemic tools without having to change therapist. We adapt to what works.
Holistic perspective
This psychotherapeutic school sees you as a whole: not only thoughts (as in CBT), not only the past (as in psychodynamic work), not only relationships (as in systemic therapy). We work comprehensively on several dimensions of your experience at once, because they are linked. We respond to your current needs as a patient, using a wide range of techniques and methods.
Process adaptation
Your needs may change over the course of integrative therapy. At first you may need crisis techniques (CBT), later deeper exploration (psychodynamic), and then work on relationships (systemic). Integrative therapy is distinguished by its individual approach to each patient.
Therapeutic process
What does integrative therapy look like?
Diagnosis & recognition
In the first sessions, the therapist gets to know your history, needs and goals. On that basis they choose the methods that will work best for you - not the other way around. The therapy plan is flexible and can evolve. Integrative therapy rests on many different techniques and methods, so it can adapt to the needs of the individual.
Combining techniques
In one session you might work on changing destructive thoughts (CBT), and in the next explore unconscious emotions (psychodynamic). The therapist weaves tools together smoothly, responding to what comes up in the process. That is why integrative psychotherapy can be effective in many different situations.
The best therapists don't have one method. They have a deep understanding of people and the courage to accompany them.
